What is a Monotype?

A “Monotype Print” is a ‘one-of-a kind’ original.

I work from observation drawings done on location and some en plein air, some from still life subjects. A transparent plexiglass plate is placed directly upon the drawing, allowing for a free-flowing application of watercolour. Once the paint is dry, the image is transferred onto damp, archival paper, using a manual printing press and producing a 1/1 monoprint.
